[Bela ducks her head for a moment before looking back at him. Oh. She can see that twinkle in his eye. It makes Bela smile widely.]

I've never been so comfortable in this place before. Until you came along.

[It's a great compliment, given how uncomfortable he can be around people in general. Especially when he wasn't working and so had something else to focus on.]

[She laughs softly, before her expression grows more serious.]

[He looks thoughtful briefly, taking a bite from his sandwich then offering her another smile. He appears more relaxed than usual now.]

[She laughs softly, following it up with a smile. Bela liked seeing David relaxed like this. He could probably use it more often.]

We should do something like this again. Maybe on the beach when it's warmer?

I wish that thieves were the worst I'd had to deal with back home...

[There were a lot of worse things she could have been in his eyes.]

Yeah, that'd be nice. I kind of miss my old routine at the beach.

Then all the more reason to get back into that routine.

[Bela continues to enjoy the picnic after she speaks, enjoying his company as well.]

Soon, it'll almost be a year since we signed a contract. I can't believe it.

[He knows they've re-contracted a few times but he hadn't realised it had been so much. The last year had flown by, which might be a good thing.]

Guess we should do something special. You know, some sort of anniversary.

I guess we should. It doesn't have to be at a restaurant if you would prefer to celebrate at the apartment instead. Just know I am going to get a high quality bottle of champagne.

It hasn't been a perfect year, but we're still managing things okay.
